TejasAsia continues to focus on the education of the children living on the streets of India. The latest survey records there are eighteen million children on the streets of India.
Education makes them less vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of inter-generational poverty. Education has the power to change their destinies!
TejasAsia actively promotes quality education for both girls and boys. But it also recognizes that a special effort is required on behalf of girls, who are often more marginalized and disadvantaged.
In New Delhi, India, starting in 2006, TejasAsia took the bold step of starting non-formal street schools for girls and boys in many outreach points in the city. Many of our children are now enrolled in regular schools through our ‘Streets to School’ mission. Our goal is to reach out to 3000 street and unprivileged children every year.
Streets to School Mission - This is a unique mission of TejasAsia to encourage children on the streets to attend school to secure their future. We believe in the value of education today. Through our non-formal school, we prepare our children with the basics of education in all our outreach points spread across the city. We are sending many children every year to schools through our increasing network of educational institutions (both private and governmental) in the city.
